Features
What Simply Snore does
Overnight snore monitoring
The iPhone's microphone listens overnight behind a live level ring, episode counter and nightstand-placement reminder, running through calls and Siri interruptions.
On-device detection engine
Apple's SoundAnalysis classifier is blended with a deterministic loudness-fallback engine, so detection keeps working even where the classifier is unavailable. No audio ever leaves the phone.
Snore Score and Insights
A deterministic 0-100 score across five bands, alongside trend charts for score, exercise minutes and same-night factors such as alcohol, late meals or sleep position.
Myofunctional exercise programme
A guided six-exercise routine, roughly eight minutes a day, targets the airway muscles implicated in snoring. It is framed around the multi-month timeline the evidence actually supports.
Risk screener and clinic report
An eight-question, STOP-Bang-inspired screener flags signs worth a professional opinion. A polished PDF report packages score trends for a GP or sleep clinic appointment.
Zero data collection
No accounts, no analytics and no runtime network calls. Raw audio is processed and discarded in real time, and the app's privacy manifest declares zero collection.
Built with
Most snoring apps record all night and hand the user a waveform in the morning. Simply Snore does the analysis itself, live, on the device. An AVAudioEngine capture pipeline feeds Apple's SoundAnalysis classifier and a deterministic loudness-fallback engine, which detect, count and time snore episodes before discarding the raw audio the moment it has been processed. There are no accounts, nothing is uploaded, and the app's privacy manifest declares zero data collection.
A score you can act on
Each morning the app builds a Snore Score (a deterministic 0-100 figure across five bands, from Quiet to Very loud) from snore-time percentage, loud-episode share and episodes per hour. Alongside it sits a same-night factors log covering alcohol, late meals, a blocked nose, sleep position and remedies tried, so patterns become visible rather than anecdotal. An Insights tab charts score trends, factors against score and weekly training minutes over time.
Exercises grounded in the evidence
A six-exercise myofunctional training routine (tongue press, tongue slide, palate lift, tongue reach, vowel power, lip seal) targets the airway muscles implicated in snoring. It runs as a guided, roughly eight-minute daily session with timed steps and haptic cues. The app is honest about the timeline: these exercises are framed around the multi-month horizon the evidence actually supports, not an overnight fix. An eight-question, STOP-Bang-inspired risk screener offers a fast path for red flags like observed pauses or choking. It is presented throughout as a screening aid rather than a diagnosis.
Built as Simply Calm's sibling
Simply Snore shares its SwiftUI and Liquid Glass component grammar with its sister app, Simply Calm, recoloured to a night-sky palette of dusk indigo, moon gold and sage. It supports Dark Mode, Dynamic Type, VoiceOver and Reduce Motion throughout, and is unit-tested across ten Swift Testing suites covering scoring, aggregation, risk logic and export. A Premium tier, in progress at the time of writing, will unlock the Insights tab, extended night history, saved-clip playback and the PDF clinic report. Core monitoring, scoring, exercises and the risk check remain free.
